Thank you HCL for offering the journey. It was sometimes frustrating but mostly entertaining and ultimately rewarding. I liked using Library Thing and creating the Avatar was way big fun. Technology is a wonderful thing especially in the information seeking business. But I cannot tell a lie. I would rather spend my time reading a good book.
Audio Books
I explored Overdrive, Netlibrary and Project Gutenburg. Netlibrary had a wonderful tutorial. They were all user friendly but Project Gutenburg was the easiest.I found the most entertaining and unexpected entry on Project Gutenburg "human-read". Human-read was pretty much what I assumed to be the norm.
I will definitely use these sites the next time I fly.

Podcasts
I found this research a little bit frustrating because I seem to lack the appropriate plugins to upload some podcasts. I preferred using podcast.net and podcastalley.com.
I found a book and poetry site on podcast.net that looks interesting.

The merlin podcasting site was the most fun. I listened to an interview with Arlo Guthrie and Family from Kankakee Library.

You Tube
I explored 3 video sites. Dailymotion was obscene. Metacafe seemed fun and easy to use.
I like You Tube the best. This is my favorite video -
Emily and Henrietta

Newsvine
I found this site from the Web 2.0 awards list. It is a combination of user submitted news and news straight from the wire. It's fun and easy to use.
Maryland Libraries Sandbox Wiki

Here are three new titles that I heartily recommend.
The Broken Shore by Peter Temple
Mistress of the Art of Death by Ariana Franklin
In the Woods by Tana French

Veni, vidi, wiki
I know it is troublesome that everyman can wiki but that's just it- everybody does. There are some useful sites. Here is one that I enjoy -
http://booklovers.pbwiki.com/Princeton%20Public%20Library

Web 2.0, Library 2.0
The need for libraries to be innovative in applying new technologies to enhace information seeking is rather obvious. I did enjoy many of the discussions. I particularly liked Michael Casey's discussion on "disruptive technologies".
Technorati
I am not that into blogging. I find it narcissistic. However this is a useful site for finding, organizing and tagging blogs. It is also a good site for locating funky new You Tube broadcasts.
Del.icio.us
This is a very good site for organizing your bookmarks. Its best feature is its mobility. You can use it from any computer. I will most likely use this site.

Bloglines and Merlin

My favorite blog is, of course, Roberta Rood's Books To The Ceiling.

Merlin offers a wonderful way for Maryland librarians to communicate. Thank you Bill and Melinda Gates.
Technology
I really do need to come out of the cave and buy a digital camera. I will probably use the google site, Picasa, for photo sharing.
Flickr mashups
My favorite mashup site so far is the Warholizer. I think it would be cool to make one of my dog, Ivy. I could blow it up, frame it and hang it in my house next to the Janice poster.
